For something that was so rare when new, there sure are a lot of autostick Beetles for sale at any given time. Could it be that they have a high survival rate, due to becoming impossible to repair after about 10 years and just being left to sit?

The Custom or Custom 500 (the former, I think) has a nice patina. The Galaxie was a separate level/model. The Custom and Custom 500 were entry level. Probably why he misspelled it Galaxy. It would not say Galaxie anywhere on it.

YMMV, but apparently according to several unsubstantiated internet posts I found, the unique parts on the autostick weren’t terribly dependable and are still hard to find. So, there’s a large supply of broken parts available thankfully.
